Westport Writes Together through the Seasons

It’s hard to believe that September is already here, with the sun setting earlier each day, and the night air — finally — getting a bit cooler.

At Midori Creativity, we’re putting the final touches on Westport Writes! Together through the Seasons, the town-wide community writing experience launching on Sept. 19.   Designed for anyone connected to Westport, this exciting project will be enticing even reluctant writers to grab their keyboards or notebooks to pen a few words on the beauty of the changing seasons in Westport.

The more the merrier is the motto here. Westport Writes! celebrates the power of creative writing and community as we all write together. About where we live. The leaves in fall. The lights of winter. And the bounty of spring. It’s about telling a story together, as a town. It’s about knowing that you’re creative in more ways than you realize. It’s about our loving the same place and sharing that with each other.

So who is taking part?  Westport Community Schools.  Westport Historical Society.  Westport Land Trust.  Partners Village Store. And many, many more.  What do you do?  Look for prompt cards and posters around town starting on the 19th and then start writing!  You can upload your work digitally or stop in to the local businesses that will be hosting the cards (more on that later!). Organize your own event with your Westport-based group and let us know the dates and times. Write a story about it on social media.  Reach out to us to volunteer. And think about this: magically, what you write about turns the contemporary into history.  Westport 2022 will live on through your words as the Westport Historical Society digitizes and saves this project.

Midori Evans, the founder of Midori Creativity, is a creative explorer and she loves to create new and unique ways to connect and really enjoys convincing people that they truly are creative.
