Autumn colors

Were the colors this vibrant

When I was getting ready for returning guests?

Planning meals..

Beds for sleeping...

Beds for returning perenials

As I mowed the lawn

Did the water glisten so brightly

With tiny sparks, dancing on the surface

Like blinking Christmas tree lights?

As I watered and pulled weeds

Were the hues of pink, orange and red

And the tiny golden clusters in the center of my zinnias always so bright?

Something changed......

The colors?

The sun’s position?

Or perhaps the return of my Autumn Self
