The Fall Day

by Addilyn Honor Mendes

“Lily hurry up!” I called from the bottom of the stairs. “I don’t want to be late for the festival”. Lily rushed down the stairs, she was wearing a red long sweater over a red and white flannel shirt with jeans. I was wearing a black shirt, an orange and black flannel, an orange sweater, and tall brown boots that I stole from my mother’s room. Me and Lily hopped in my new white shiny jeep and drove off.

When we got to the festival me and Lily were amazed. There were people dressed in witch hats, nasa costumes, dancer costumes, clown costumes, and more. There was food that smelt so good you probably smell it from a mile away such as candy apples, pumpkin pie, fudge cakes, pop corn, fried dough, apple cider, and hot chocolate. There were so many activities such as haunted hay rides, horseback riding, apples bogging, scavenger hunts, roller coaster rides, and people running out of haunted houses screaming. “Are you ready?” Lily asked, “Yep,” I said “let me just grab my pur-,” “AHH” a little girl ran out of the haunted house screaming, “Maybe we should save the haunted house for later,” I said. “Yeah,” Lily said with a nervous look on her face.

After a little while of walking around the festival and having delicious meals, I reached into my purse for the haunted house tickets, “ Where are they?” I asked “What do you mean Addi?” Lily asked, “The tickets!” I yelled “I don’t know where did you put them, they were a lot of money!” Lily said. “Haunted hayride giving its last rides of the day!” The manager said. “Let's just go on the haunted hay ride for now I am sure they will pop up,” Lily said “Alright,” I said with a nervous sound in my voice. “Let's go.” When the haunted hay ride was over and we hopped off of the haunted hayride I noticed something on the ground. I walked over to it and it was our two haunted house tickets. “Lily!” I shouted “ I found the tickets.” Lily ran over, “Yay!” Lily said, “Let's go quick before they close the haunted house.” Lily and I ran over to the haunted house that we have been dying to go into this whole day. Once me and Lily reached the haunted house it was closed. “Oh no!” Lily said “We were too late.” “Come on, let's just go home there is nothing we can do about it now,” I said. Me and Lily drove home with a sad look on our faces and when we got home we just went straight to bed.

The next day me and Lily didn't talk all day. She said that it was my fault the tickets dropped out of my purse and I wasn’t paying attention. But then an idea bursted into my head. I put on my best Fall outfit, grabbed my camera, and sprinted down stairs and out of the house. I set up my camera facing our tall white house with halloween decorations on it. Above the camera was a tall tree that had all different color leaves on it. I rushed back inside and to the end of the stairs “Lily!” I yelled “What!” Lily yelled with an angry tone, “Get on your favorite Fall outfit and meet me outside!” I yelled back. After about 20 minutes of Lily doing her makeup she finally rushed outside. “ Finally,” I said. “Would you just get to the point and tell me what we’re doing,” Lily said with an annoyed look on her face. “Just take this pile of leaves and throw them when I say go, and also make sure to look at the camera,” I said, “I figured,” Lily said. I set the timer on the camera and ran back to Lily with a pile of leaves also in my hands. “3..2..1.. GO!” I yelled. Me and Lily both threw the piles of leaves that were in our hands into the air. “Happy Fall!”
